Guidance Counselor

Jan-Kristòf Louis-Mansano was born in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn and raised in Haiti until the age of 13 when he moved back to Brooklyn. He has been involved in working with children through some capacity for 14 years now ranging from non-profits to community-based organizations to the New York City Department of Education. He currently holds a B.A. in Childhood Education with an Professional Certificate in Childhood Education for grades 1-6 and a Master of Science in Education in Bilingual School Counseling, both of which he has obtained at CUNY Brooklyn College. During the school year, he is a school counselor at Brooklyn Technical High School, a specialized high school in Fort Greene and one of the largest schools in the United States. He is also an advisor for the Brooklyn Tech chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). In the summer, he is the assistant director for Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program (BCAP) a summer camp based in the heart of Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Public Library. He is passionate about social justice and equity for all children and their families. His down time usually involves him playing the violin, biking, volunteer work and looking for the next best literature. He now lives in Brooklyn with his husband of 15 years now.
